CPR, AED, and First Aid Training
for Foster Parents

Foster parents are required to complete training in CPR / AED, First Aid, and Water Safety and remain certified in those disciplines.

Foster Parents can schedule training with us at our location through the website. If you are hosting a group, we can travel to your location and conduct training for your group or organization.

Suggested Courses:

Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, AED

The Heartsaver First Aid / CPR / AED course provides training in the proper techniques to intervene with First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with and without the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The course is regularly updated with the most current research and science from the American Heart Association.

Infant and Juvenile CPR techniques are all taught in these classes.

The Heartsaver First Aid / CPR / AED class trains the students to aid their family or their community safely and quickly. This course was created for students with little or no prior medical training. Students will learn how to identify and treat medical and injury emergencies, how to contact emergency services, and how to preserve life until help arrives. This course also trains the student to properly provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and how to properly use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Stop The Bleed

A STOP THE BLEED® course is a blend of lecture (online available) and in-person skills assessments, developed for anyone interested in learning to save lives through stopping the loss of blood. Created and continually refined by The American College of Surgeons, the Stop the Bleed campaign has instructed over one million law enforcement officers, teachers, students, and community members in these life-saving skills.

STOP THE BLEED® courses provide students with three methods to save a life before someone expires from blood loss. Using direct pressure, tourniquets, and packing a wound with gauze, YOU can be the difference in an emergency. Our instructors have personally used these techniques multiple times in their professional and civilian lives to prevent death. Their students have used these skills as well, on the scenes of shootings, automobile accidents, building sites, and in the woods.

Much of the Stop The Bleed ® course can be taken online. There is an in-personal skills assessment that can be performed at the end of most Georgia CPR Certification classes for a minimal cost that covers material and equipment. You can register for the Stop the Bleed skills assessment during your course registration process.

What training options do you offer for Foster Parents?

Instructor-Led Course

The Instructor-Led Heartsaver courses are entirely taught in the classroom setting, with an instructor guiding the lesson through lecture, discussion, and practical evaluations / skills testing. The CPR / AED class takes approximately 3-4 hours. The First Aid course takes approximately 2 hours to complete. The courses can be taken separately, or combined into the same class day.

You may reserve a seat in this class through the website. If you would like to discuss organizing a class for a Foster Parent organization or group, please contact us to discuss scheduling and pricing.

Blended Learning Course

We offer a Blended Learning option to complete your required CPR, AED, and First Aid training.

When you register for the course, we will issue you an access code by email. Upon receiving a course code, the student can log onto the American Heart Association website and complete the classroom portion of the course digitally.

On an agreed-upon date (after the students have completed the online component), our Instructors will conduct the Skills Testing portion of the class. Skills Testing can take place 1-1 or as a group. Skills Testing generally takes approximately 30 - 60 minutes, dependent on any content to be reviewed or remedial training required.

When can I schedule a course?

We have appointments available throughout the week. At our facility, courses generally start at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
If you are hosting us at your facility, we can begin the course as early as 7:30 AM. While most training is conducted during the traditional workday, we understand that your group or organization may need to hold training during other times. In that case, please Contact Us to schedule training by phone.
